Sybille de Braak

"A sculpture must speak for itself," says sculptor Sybille de Braak about her work. Born in 1947 in Norf near Düsseldorf, Germany, she moved with her parents to The Hague in the Netherlands in 1948. After receiving a classical ballet education, she studied at the College of Fine Arts in Breda, later at the Royal College in The Hague, and the College of Fine Arts in Amsterdam.

Sybille de Braak had her first solo exhibition in 1980 in The Hague, followed by numerous other exhibitions in the Netherlands and Spain.

Sybille de Braak focuses on the reflection on fundamental values: love and respect, knowledge and truth, harmony and beauty, tenderness and humour. These timeless values inspire her work and are the expression of her classical-looking sculptures.
