Patricia Frida

Patricia Frida Eichwalder (artist's name: Patricia Frida) grew up in Carinthia, Austria. The inspiration for her artwork motifs originates from her training as a make-up artist. In 1991, the artist travelled to Asia and spent 4 years in Tokyo, where she learned the art of photography. Until the year 1998, she travelled around the world: New York, Barcelona and London. Today Patricia Frida lives and works in Paris.

The basis of her work is photography, which she sometimes develops in the darkroom or prints on watercolour paper. Then the motif is transferred onto canvas and finished with various materials such as oil paints, acrylics, pigments, watercolours and different papers (such as newspapers or old originals that she finds at flea markets and antique shops).
