Robert Mangold
Born in 1937
After studying art, Robert Mangold worked as a supervisor at the Museum of Modern Art in New York in the 1960s. Today, the museum exhibits numerous works by the artist, who has long been one of the most renowned painters of American Minimalism.
Although he initially painted in the style of abstract expressionism, the formal rigour of Piet Mondrian convinced him to embark on a minimalist artistic path. He explores the relationships between form, line and colour with calculation and precision. Nevertheless, a playful lightness is inherent in his works.
