Barbara Quandt

Barbara Quandt was born in 1947 in Berlin. The artist is a passionate figure painter who focuses her work on the human being.

She studied at the Hochschule der Bildenden Künste in Berlin under professors Hans Kuhn and K. H. Hödicke. After receiving scholarships in London, New York and Berlin, she continues to find her subjects on numerous journeys and stays abroad in Tanzania, the USA, Buenos Aires, Madrid, Venice and Alaska, among other places. She processes the various impressions in her painting, combining the motif of longing and the foreign with her own.

Barbara Quandt can be assigned to the movement of the "Neue Wilden". Her style is loose. The themes of her paintings show a figurative abstracting painting: strong, superimposed colour surfaces, in which figures and animals occur occasionally. Barbara Quandt's works radiate sensuality, emotionality and immediacy. "Winning a cheerful perspective from life" is her motto.

The artist lives and works in Berlin.
