Helga Tiemann

1917-2008

Helga Tiemann is one of the few artists for whom the first German Chancellor Konrad Adenauer sat as a model. Even her early portraits of Theodor Heuss and Adenauer were highly acclaimed. Thus, Helga Tiemann advanced to become a sought-after portrait painter of politics and society. She painted famous contemporaries such as Richard von Weizsäcker, Aenne Burda and Roland Reagan.

The highlight of her artistic work is the life-size Adenauer monument for Adenauerplatz in Berlin, which in 2005, was ceremoniously inaugurated by Angela Merkel. In addition, sensitive still lifes and beautiful flower paintings enrich her work.
