Detailed description

"The Menacing Cupid", 1757 (small sculpture)

A love piece of art history: Falconet's Cupid.

Already in 1755, Falconet presented a plaster model of his Cupid and caused enthusiasm among the critics of his time. Two years later, together with his equally famous work "La Beigneuse", it was presented as a marble statue. Cupid's finger pointing to his closed lips promises secrecy. And yet, smiling mischievously, he seems aware of his power over every human destiny.
Original: Musée du Louvre, Paris. Marble.

ars mundi museum replica, cast stone, cast by hand. Size 12 x 24 x 13.5 cm (w/h/d), weight 2.5 kg.
