The artist Jan M. Petersen, who is equally devoted to art history and humorously scrutinises it without false respect, is a bit of a celebrity in the gallery scene. His handcart, which he pushes through the exhibition halls of various art fairs as a regular guest, contains a fund of bizarre artistic wisdom. On handy wooden blocks, he puts his simultaneously cheeky and wise slogans, all of which tell of his passion for art.
His latest objects made of shiny copper seem glamorous at first but with their lettering composed of Swarovski stones, they take their usual humorous jabs at the vanity and need for recognition of the high-gloss art world.

The artist and qualified architect Jan M. Petersen, born in 1969 in Bad Vilbel, Germany, humorously questions art history and at the same time approaches it with enthusiasm.
In addition to handy wooden works on which he puts his cheeky and wise slogans, all telling of his passion for art, the artist also delights with his small- and large-format sculptures and coloured steel cuts. Jan M. Petersen lives and works in Brandenburg, Germany.

In the history of arts, the starting point of this trend was the work "Les Meules" (1890/1891) by Claude Monet, in which for the first time a series was created that went beyond a mere group of works. The other artists, who addressed to the serial art, include Claude Monet, Piet Mondrian and above all Gerhard Richter.
