Detailed description

Jewellery set "Egyptian Revival"

In the mid 19th century, the adaptation of antique jewellery from Egypt became very popular in Europe. The Castellani workshop in Naples, which Henry Walters visited in 1909, was famous for this type of jewellery. Necklace and earrings made of tin gold-plated with lapis lazuli, inspired by jewellery made in the Castellani workshop. In ancient Egypt, lapis lazuli was considered a sacred stone and a symbol of truth. The original necklace was made of gold with carved gemstones. From the collection of the Walters Art Museum. Necklace: length 46 cm. Size pendant 3 x 1.5 cm (h/w). Lobster clasp. Earrings: size 4 x 1.5 cm (h/w) each.

Jewellery set includes necklace and earrings.
