Set of 4 wall objects "Seasons Cycle"
For his atmospheric compositions, Klaus Börner roams the quarries of northern Italy to hand-pick the right stones for his objects. The colour and grain of the slate stones, which he assembles piece by piece by hand, are perfectly matched to the motifs. He combines the rectangular slate panels with bronze and brass elements to create enchanting landscape impressions.
Each object is a unique piece, signed by the artist. Size 15 x 20 x 2.5 cm (h/w/d) each. With suspension device.
"SPRING - River From the Mountains":
The river seemingly rises from the sun behind a group of mountains and meanders through a plain until it forms a golden waterfall at a terrain edge. Catalogue raisonné no. 489.
"SUMMER - The Tree that Falls Out of the Frame":
A breakwater washed by waves in a small bay by the Mediterranean Sea. A fine line marks the horizon and on the right is the tree falling out of the frame. Catalogue raisonné no. 487.
"AUTUMN - Raven Monologue":
A freestanding, already dead oak tree set in a hilly landscape. High in the sky flies a lonely raven. A fellow raven sits on the far-reaching branch and ponders in the direction of the rising sun. Slate with bronze and brass. Catalogue raisonné no. 486.
"WINTER - Snow Falling on Cedars":
Three individual cedars stand in an idealised, hilly, sunlit landscape, each lightly covered in snow. Catalogue raisonné no. 485.

About Klaus Börner
Born in 1951 in Hildesheim, Germany, the goldsmith and sculptor Klaus Börner is a loner, an individualist, and a solitary artist who does not subscribe to the current and quickly forgotten art trends but instead follows his own way, close to nature.
Börner uses mainly slate for his unmistakable objects. He combines the small rectangular slate panels with materials such as bronze, steel, brass and sapphires. They combine with the fine lines carved into the slate to create enchanting landscape impressions. The compositions consist of a few pictorial elements, such as trees or animals, allowing a lot of room for imagination.

While sculptures from wood, ivory or stone are made directly from the block of material, in bronze casting a working model is prepared at first. Usually, it is made of clay or other easily mouldable materials.
