Detailed description
Nativity figures "Three Sheep", hand-painted
The "Ulrich Nativity" from the Val Gardena (Dolomites) is considered one of the most beautiful nativity scenes ever. It owes its origin to the art of woodcarving, which was already flourishing in the 17th century there. It had developed from a peasant sideline into an independent craft. The figurines stand out for their extremely filigree workmanship and expressive facial features. Carved out of precious sycamore wood and hand-painted down to the smallest detail - each figurine is a unique piece.
