About Kani Alavi
Kani Alavi (born 1955) takes us on a journey through colourful landscapes, combining his imagination and joy of colour with what he sees with his own eyes. His special painting technique envelops his flowers in a delicate, yet intensely colourful, fragrant veil. The longing for more harmony, friendship, and love merges with feelings of summer.
Alavi lived in northern Persia until he was 25 years old. In 1980, he moved to Berlin, studied painting at the Berlin University of the Arts and was a master-class student under Prof. Klaus Fußmann. In 1996, he founded the "East Side Gallery" organisation to preserve the Berlin Wall, which has been painted by artists from all over the world. Through his exhibitions in Germany, Russia, South Korea, and numerous other countries, Kani Alavi gained international recognition.
Graphic or sculpture edition that was initiated by ars mundi and is available only at ars mundi or at distribution partners licensed by ars mundi.
Giclée = derived from the French verb gicler "to squirt, to spray".
The Giclée method is a digital printing process. It is a high-resolution, large-format print produced with an inkjet printer using special different-coloured dye- or pigment-based inks (usually six to twelve). The inks are lightfast, meaning they are resistant to harmful UV light. They provide a high level of nuance, contrast, and saturation.
The Giclée process is suitable for art canvases, handmade paper and watercolour paper as well as silk.
