Museo del Oro - Gold Museum in Bogotá

The name "Gold Museum" says it all: the Museo del Oro in Bogotá, Colombia, houses a historical gold collection of over 30,000 objects that is unique in the world. With golden artefacts such as masks, necklaces, rings, bracelets, statuettes, tableware, art objects, and many other exhibits, some of which are thousands of years old, the museum tells the cultural history of the country from pre-Hispanic times. The various departments in the museum document the history of metalworking and provide insights into the daily life, culture, and religion of the peoples before their contact with Europe.

In 1939, the state bank “Banco de la República” established the museum to protect the country's valuable cultural objects and make them accessible to the public. More than half a million people visit the Museo del Oro every year.

All of the originals of these works are on display at the Gold Museum in Bogotá.
