Detailed description

Sculpture "Tutelary Goddess Neith (original size)", gold-plated

In pre-dynastic times, she was already worshipped as the mother of the gods, creator and goddess of hunting and war. During the 18th Dynasty, she became the protector of women, and in the late period, she finally became the patroness of domestic skills. Accordingly her cult symbol, a shield and crossed arrows which she wore on her head, can be interpreted as a weaving bobbin. The Greeks, fascinated by Egyptian culture, equated her with their Athena.
Original: Egyptian Museum, Cairo, Tutankhamun's treasure. Egypt, New Kingdom, 18th Dynasty, c. 1335 B.C. Originally made of wood.

Polymer ars mundi museum replica cast and gilded by hand. Original size. Height incl. pedestal 96.5 cm.
