Ulrich Barnickel: Sculpture "Rooster", bronze

Detailed description

Sculpture "Rooster", bronze

Ulrich Barnickel is characterised by his "palpable" proximity to metal. The original "Rooster" was produced hollow using only a hammer and punch. The head with beak, lobe and neck were hammered out of a piece of metal. The sculpture can be categorised as the link between the "archetype" and abstraction. The unmistakable dynamic tension of the sculpture shows the rooster in all its power.

Edition in noble bronze. Cast using the Lost-Wax-Process, finely patinated by hand and partly polished. Limited edition of 199 copies, numbered and signed. Size 35 x 28 x 22 cm (w/h/d). Weight approx. 7 kg. ars mundi Exclusive Edition.

About Ulrich Barnickel

The artist shapes his material but also the material shapes its artist. This phrase especially applies to the work of Ulrich Barnickel.

The trained blacksmith and graduate of the renowned Burg Giebichenstein School of Art in Halle an der Saale, Germany, received in 2007 his doctorate from the Bauhaus University in Weimar. Those milestones not only describe his educational biography but also the roots from which Barnickel developed his artistic ideas.

Characteristics of the artist, who is represented internationally in numerous exhibition, is not only his unerring sense of form and shape, developed in numerous preparatory sketches but also his palpable proximity to metal.
