Sculpture "Anubis, God of The Dead", cast

He was regarded as the son of Osiris and the tutelary goddess Nephthys and served as a guardian of souls in the court of the afterlife. In Tutankhamun's "Dwelling of Eternity", discovered by Howard Carter in 1922, he was the "guardian and keeper of secret things", standing on a gilded shrine at the entrance to the underground tomb.
