Detailed description

Picture "Jungle Landscape with Setting Sun" (1910), framed

It is not the real primeval forest that Henri Rousseau wanted to depict here. Rather, the subject seems dreamlike and is entirely determined by the fascination with nature's richness of form and colour. It is one of his last works and shows why the autodidact and full-time publican went down in art history as the forefather of "naïve" painting and Magic Realism.
Original: 1910, oil on canvas, Kunstmuseum Basel.

Edition transferred directly onto artist's canvas using the Fine Art Giclée process and stretched onto a stretcher frame. Limited edition of 499 copies, numbered, with certificate. Framed in a handmade, black-silver-coloured solid wood frame. Size 56 x 78 cm (h/w). ars mundi Exclusive Edition.
