About Herman
Herman, born in Paderborn, Germany, in 1959, has made a name for himself as a well-known German fun artist. The hallmarks of his art are the typical angular shape of his figures.
The first glance at Herman's art shows how much fun the trained silk-screen printer has with art that is certainly not just pleasing, but can be quite unruly, satirical, bearish and humorous – just like everyday life itself. The trademark of his favourite subject, the animal, is the already mentioned angular shape, the unwillingness to round out. With wit and irony, he uses the stylistic devices of the cartoon and creates pictures and sculptures that elicit a smile from the viewer.
The freelance artist has already participated in over 200 international exhibitions and illustrated around 120 editions.
Giclée = derived from the French verb gicler "to squirt, spurt".
The giclée method is a digital printing process. It is a high-resolution, large-format printout on an inkjet printer with special different-coloured dye- or pigment-based inks (usually six to twelve). The colours are fade-proof, i.e. resistant to harmful UV light. They have a high richness of nuance, contrast and saturation.
The giclée process is suitable for art canvases, handmade and watercolour paper as well as for silk.
