The impressionist painter, graphic artist, illustrator and stage designer Franz Theodor Max Slevogt (1868-1932) was born in Landshut. He is one of the last representatives of open-air painting. The original of his oil painting "Wine Arbour on Neukastel" is owned by the Wallraf-Richartz-Museum & Fondation Corboud, Cologne.
