Mosaic Figurine "Dragon"
In the Spirit of Antoni Gaudí: "Trencadis" Sculptures from Barcelona
In the art of "Trencadis", ceramic shards are artfully joined together to form colourful mosaics. Originating at the end of the 19th century and also known in France (as "pique assiette"), it is now closely associated with the names of architects Antoni Gaudí (1852-1926) and Josep Maria Juyol Gibert (1879-1949). They adorned the famous Park Güell in Barcelona - now a World Heritage Site - with numerous such mosaics. Of particular importance is Gaudí's "Dragon Fountain" - a dragon sculpture whose scales are made up of brightly coloured shards. But even today, new designs are being created, such as this dragon by Barcino Design in Barcelona.
The dragon created by Barcino Design is also a deep homage to the genius of Antoni Gaudí. It is a faithful replica of the famous waterspout in the "Park de Güell". Size 21 x 7.5 x 19 cm, polyresin body.
