Detailed description
Mural from Pompeii: Set of 4 pictures
Pompeii was considered one of the most beautiful cities of the Roman Empire until the eruption of Mount Vesuvius in AD 79, burying the city within minutes under a thick layer of ash and pumice. Today, this terrible natural disaster is a stroke of luck for art history because there is no other place where frescoes and art objects of this time have been preserved in such a complete state.
Set of the pictures Two Women, Perseus and Andromeda, Mars and Venus and The Three Graces: all the replicas presented here have been produced exclusively for ars mundi, true to detail after originals from the National Archaeological Museum, Naples. Reproduced gridless as a Giclée edition on artist's canvas. Traditionally stretched on stretcher frames. Size unframed approx. 40.5 x 40.5 cm, framed in a high-quality hand-glided solid wood frame approx. 45 x 45 cm each.

Giclée = derived from the French verb gicler "to squirt, spurt".
The giclée method is a digital printing process. It is a high-resolution, large-format printout on an inkjet printer with special different-coloured dye- or pigment-based inks (usually six to twelve). The colours are fade-proof, i.e. resistant to harmful UV light. They have a high richness of nuance, contrast and saturation.
The giclée process is suitable for art canvases, handmade and watercolour paper as well as for silk.
