About Peder Mork Mönsted
1859-1941
Close to Nature
His paintings are like a relaxing walk: In the works of Danish painter Peder Mork Mönsted, one can experience nature and architecture almost first-hand - that's how realistically he painted his landscape scenes.
Mönsted travelled throughout Europe and created an extensive oeuvre of diverse nature impressions. Time and again, he returned to his Scandinavian homeland, where he mostly painted deserted, untouched river and forest landscapes. He was a keen observer of water surfaces, their reflections, nestled in their surroundings. To achieve this, he even went out on a boat to paint from the water, allowing himself a completely unobstructed view. Mönsted was clearly influenced by Impressionism, and his work can hardly be classified within the academic landscape painting of the time.
The Scandinavian genre experienced a renaissance at the end of the last century, as a result of which Mönsted was also rediscovered. Among other exhibitions, he was featured in 1995 in "Light of the North" in Frankfurt am Main and Stockholm. His works are collected worldwide, particularly in the English-speaking world with its great tradition of atmospheric landscape depictions. Today, he is considered one of the most important artists from Denmark.

Giclée = derived from the French verb gicler "to squirt, to spray".
The Giclée method is a digital printing process. It is a high-resolution, large-format print produced with an inkjet printer using special different-coloured dye- or pigment-based inks (usually six to twelve). The inks are lightfast, meaning they are resistant to harmful UV light. They provide a high level of nuance, contrast, and saturation.
The Giclée process is suitable for art canvases, handmade paper and watercolour paper as well as silk.
