Detailed description

Egyptian Hand Mirror

Highly polished mirrors were indispensable items in the cosmetic cult of noble Egyptian women. For the first time in the 18th Dynasty, the handles were designed as naked girls. A papyrus flower unfolded above their heads, from which the mirror surface grew similar to the morning sun disc.

Original: Berlin State Museums - Prussian Cultural Heritage. Egypt, New Kingdom, 18th Dynasty, c. 1400 BC.
