Urheberrechtsgemeinschaft Pechstein

Max Pechstein (1881 - 1955) was one of the outstanding artists of Classical Modernism. As a pioneer of Expressionism, among others with the artist group "Brücke", he significantly shaped the art of the 20th century. His artistic legacy is preserved and managed by the "Urheberrechtsgemeinschaft Pechstein", which remains under the ownership of the Pechstein family to this day. It collaborates with numerous renowned art institutions, including the Brücke Museum Berlin, the Museum Ludwig in Cologne, the Kunsthalle Tübingen, the Kunstsammlungen Zwickau and the Nationalgalerie Berlin. Since 2017, there has been a trusted cooperation with ars mundi. The estate administration not only authorises the ars mundi editions but also provides assistance with biographical information on Pechstein, as well as image data and photos. The collaboration is conducted directly through Julia Pechstein, the granddaughter of Max Pechstein.
