Detailed description

Picture "Shanghai II", on stretcher frame

A great work by TA MEN from the series "Old China - New China": The anonymous office, where one of the two artists can be seen on the bottom right, represents the old China. But the façade is crumbling, and more and more of the new, dynamic, Western-oriented China can be seen, symbolised by the glowing skyline of Shanghai.

Giclée print on canvas. Limited edition of 199 copies, numbered and signed on the back. Traditionally stretched on a stretcher frame. Size 75 x 120 cm (h/w).

About TA MEN

The artist duo TA MEN (Mandarin for "they") is one of the shooting stars of "Art Nouveau Chinois", whose art is also very popular in the West. The two artists, whose real names are Lai Shengyu and Yang Xiaogong, were born in 1978 in Hunan Province. They completed their studies at the Beijing Central Academy of Fine Arts. Throughout their career and even during their studies they received numerous awards: e.g. the Excellence Award of the Nokia "Paradise of Imagination" Art Competition, the first prize of the Okamatsu Family Art Fund, Japan, and the gold medal of the Graduation Works Exhibition at the Central Academy of Fine Arts, Beijing.
