Francis Bacon
Francis Bacon (1909-1992) was a British painter born in Ireland. He is one of the most important representational painters of the 20th century. In his work, he focused on the depiction of the deformed human body in tightly constructed spaces.
Francis Bacon's extensive oeuvre is distributed among the collections of the world's most important museums. For example, as a Brit, of course, in the collection of the Tate Modern and Tate Britain; in the USA, among others, at the MoMA and Guggenheim Museum; and on the European mainland at the Städel Museum Frankfurt, Centre Pompidou Paris and the Kunsthaus Zürich.
