Daniel Schwarz

Daniel Schwarz was born in Bad Ems, Germany, in 1991 and studied at the Academy of Painting in Berlin. The gestural paintings seem to be fed by dreamlike memories of nature and landscape. In a broad palette and with an impasto application of colour, Schwarz reproduces in diverse compositions what he has seen or imagined.

Works by the painter can be found in the Hasso Plattner Foundation in Potsdam, the Kistefos Museum in Jevnka near Oslo, Norway and the Dr Helmut Marko Collection in Graz, Austria. Daniel Schwarz lives and works in Berlin.

"The central theme of my work is to question, with the means of painting, the seemingly self-evident idea of freedom and reality that prevails today in contemporary man. This involves the significance of romantic fantasy, the continuously dwindling relationship to dreamy nature and, last but not least, the sensual."
