Portrait of the artist Anja Wülfing

Anja Wülfing

Anja Wülfing works with contrasts and opposites, as she has two hearts beating in her chest. One heart beats for the masters of the Baroque and Rococo periods, and the other for modern abstract painting.

In her pictures, opposites meet: Figurative meets abstraction; tradition meets progression. To achieve this, she combines two different backgrounds and painting techniques. She sews together fine and coarse canvas fabrics and then paints the classical elements in oil and the abstract elements using acrylic, pencils, and markers.
