Picture "Icelandic Lava Plane" (2015)
Marc Quinn says about the motif of his work "Icelandic Lava Plane": "Orchids are perfectly grown little sculptures. They make us realise that sexuality, life and colour are what keeps the earth moving."
For his floral works, the artist chooses a range of species from different continents that would never bloom at the same time. Quinn thus photographically assembles the flowers and fruits of these plants to create an omnipotent, aesthetic organism. At the same time, the artist plays with this depicted, plant-like omnipotence and, in reverse, presents the viewer with the transience that seems to lead to recurrence.
The digital print "Icelandic Lava Plane", an image of the "Queen of Plants", adds a touch of blossoming beauty to any art collection.
Digital print, 2015. 75 copies on Somerset Satin, hand-signed and numbered on the back. Motif size/sheet size 79 x 114 cm. Size in frame 86 x 121 cm as shown.
