About the exhibit

This 3D object captures the moment of arrival on the Germans’ favourite island. The striking lettering in bright, summery colours – modern, clear and full of joie de vivre. The highlight: the oversized ‘O’ in MALLORCA is designed as a three-dimensional aeroplane window and set into the passe-partout. Through this window, a view opens up onto a map of the sunny island – complemented by a hint of an aeroplane wing. A change of perspective that immediately awakens wanderlust and brings back memories of the approach over the sparkling Mediterranean.

About the artist

With imagination and wit, the professor of business communication, born in 1960, stages words and quotations as innovative typographic object images. Using three-dimensional figurative design elements, Birkelbach reinforces the text’s message, thereby creating an expressive link between poster art and miniature sculpture.

Each piece is handcrafted and signed by the artist. The object images are framed in solid wood with high-quality, anti-glare glass. Limited edition of 499 copies, with certificate. Size 35 x 35 x 7 cm (h/w/d).
