Her name translates to "(she who) tightens the throat". As a tutelary goddess, she was supposed to bring about the eternal life of the pharaoh. "Serket", the scorpion that wards off evil, adorns her head as a sign of her magic. Original: Tutankhamun's burial treasure, c. 1335 BC, Egyptian Museum, Cairo.
