Detailed description
Design wall object "DIS-2 Topography blue hexagon" (2018)
"Wall topographies" - this is what Berlin-based artist Sebastian Welzel calls his unique works. Using many identically sized tetrahedrons, he creates large surfaces with a relief-like structure. The tetrahedrons, approximately 3 centimetres in height, are coloured in carefully selected combinations. This results in a colourful, three-dimensional surface, with the visual impression changing depending on the viewing angle and spatial environment: Brightness and the angle of light define both the cast shadows and reflections, as well as determine the intensity and hue of the colour.
Wall topography with 288 coloured triangles that are randomly assembled by hand - each work is a unique piece. Laminated cardboard with high light resistance on a thin wooden carrier board. Limited edition of 20 copies, numbered and signed by hand. Size 56 x 64 x 3 cm (h/w/d). Weight approx. 1 kg. With suspension device.

About Sebastian Welzel
Sebastian Welzel, born in 1985, completed his architecture studies at the Technical University of Berlin and initially worked at the world-famous architecture firm "Dominique Perrault Architecture" in Paris, among others. From 2018 onwards, he developed his wall topographies and established them as globally sought-after design objects.
A plastic work of sculptural art made of wood, stone, ivory, bronze or other metals.
While sculptures from wood, ivory or stone are made directly from the block of material, in bronze casting a working model is prepared at first. Usually, it is made of clay or other easily mouldable materials.
The prime time of sculpture after the Greek and Roman antiquity was the Renaissance. Impressionism gave a new impulse to the sculptural arts. Contemporary artists such as Jorg Immendorf, Andora, and Markus Lupertz also enriched sculptures with outstanding works.
