About TA MEN
The artist duo TA MEN (Mandarin for "they") is one of the shooting stars of "Art Nouveau Chinois", whose art is also very popular in the West. The two artists, whose real names are Lai Shengyu and Yang Xiaogong, were born in 1978 in Hunan Province. They completed their studies at the Beijing Central Academy of Fine Arts. Throughout their career and even during their studies they received numerous awards: e.g. the Excellence Award of the Nokia "Paradise of Imagination" Art Competition, the first prize of the Okamatsu Family Art Fund, Japan, and the gold medal of the Graduation Works Exhibition at the Central Academy of Fine Arts, Beijing.
Giclée = derived from the French verb gicler "to squirt, spurt".
The giclée method is a digital printing process. It is a high-resolution, large-format printout on an inkjet printer with special different-coloured dye- or pigment-based inks (usually six to twelve). The colours are fade-proof, i.e. resistant to harmful UV light. They have a high richness of nuance, contrast and saturation.
The giclée process is suitable for art canvases, handmade and watercolour paper as well as for silk.
