Picture "La Lettera W", framed

The Cuban Wifredo Lam succeeded in bringing native traditions and modern stylistic devices to a perfect synthesis in his art. His pictures combine magical, totemic symbols and references to Afro-Cuban mythologies with elements of Cubism and Surrealism. Wifredo Lam's artistic interpretation of the letter W develops the typographic sign as the initial of his first name in a kind of metamorphosis from the ears of a mysterious jungle animal. The ambiguous creature shines out of the deep darkness in an unreal, ghostly light.

Photolithograph in six colours, signed by the artist, numbered on the back. Limited edition of 5,000 copies. Sheet size approx. 30 x 23.5 cm (h/w). Framed in silver-coloured solid wood with bevel cut passe-partout, glazed. Size 45.5 x 36.5 cm (h/w).
