Detailed description
Picture "Conductor in Distress", framed
Subtle irony meets brilliant sharpness - Bergner's work is about humans, about what makes us human-like. Like here with this conductor. At a concert, things are not always as they seem. Sometimes the striving conductor gets caught between two fronts: an inattentive audience on the one hand and bad-tempered musicians on the other.
Colourful Fine Art Giclée print on handmade paper. Limited edition of 199 copies, numbered and signed by the artist. Sheet size 30 x 40 cm (h/w). Framed in matt silver solid wood frame with passe-partout. Dustproof glazed. Size 33 x 43 cm (w/h). ars mundi Exclusive Edition.

About Ralf Bergner
Born in 1953, painter, graphic artist and illustrator
The director of the graphic collection Albertina Vienna, Walter Koschatzky, called Ralf Bergner, who now lives in Berlin, "a draughtsman of the highest calibre". He studied painting and graphic art under Frank Ruddigkeit and Willi Sitte in Halle, Saale, Germany. During early study visits to the Austrian capital, Bergner was introduced to artists such as Paul Flora and Alfred Hrdlicka, who praised his skills and valued him as a collector.
Bergner's work revolves around people. His empathetic studies began as comical, cheerful and whimsical and eventually became satirical. His newly invented proportions accentuate his view of things, and the props drape them.
In addition to a rugged clarity, it is the many delicately nuanced details that captivate. The many collections featuring his coloured drawings, etchings and the series he produced for famous German magazines "Magazin" and "Die Zeit" testify to his special talent. Connoisseurs rank his works in the same league as the graphic work of Busch, Zille and Grosz.

Giclée = derived from the French verb gicler "to squirt, to spray".
The Giclée method is a digital printing process. It is a high-resolution, large-format print produced with an inkjet printer using special different-coloured dye- or pigment-based inks (usually six to twelve). The inks are lightfast, meaning they are resistant to harmful UV light. They provide a high level of nuance, contrast, and saturation.
The Giclée process is suitable for art canvases, handmade paper and watercolour paper as well as silk.
