Art Collage at ars mundi: Unique Compositions With Depth and History
Art Collages: What Makes These Works So Special?
Collage art is undoubtedly one of the most fascinating techniques of modern art. Its origins go back to the works of Pablo Picasso and Georges Braque, who, with their papier collé (pasting paper cut-outs onto canvas) at the beginning of the 20th century, created an early form of the art collage.
What remains fascinating about the technique to this day are the endless possibilities that come from combining different materials and objects. Each individual element in an art collage carries its own meaning, while all elements together form an additional meta-meaning as a whole.
